That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is stretching further into 2027. The staff for the anime’s fourth season revealed that the show will return for its third cours in July 2027, and that Wataru Kajika’s spinoff manga That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Clayman’s Revenge will get a television anime debuting in April 2027.
Takehito Koyasu is returning to the franchise to voice Clayman in the spinoff.
Who is making Clayman’s Revenge

Wataru Kajika launched the spinoff manga in April 2022, and Kodansha’s K MANGA service is releasing it in English digitally. The manga’s ninth compiled volume shipped on August 7.
How the fourth season is structured
The fourth season will air for a total run of five cours. The first two cours aired continuously, and the newly announced third cours is set for July 2027. 8-Bit is returning to animate the fourth season, and Miho Okasaki returns as protagonist Rimuru Tempest.
A five-cours total is a long commitment even by the standards of long-running isekai adaptations, and the month-by-month rollout means the franchise is effectively holding a continuous slot across 2026 and 2027 while the spinoff fills the gap in April.
Why it matters
Slime is one of the larger properties in modern light novel publishing. Fuse serialized the original story on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” website from 2013 to 2016, and the series has since drawn more than 400 million page views. Micro Magazine began publishing it in print with illustrations by Mitz Vah in 2014, and the novel series ended with its 23rd and final volume on November 29. A spinoff side-story volume, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: How to Spend a Certain Vacation, shipped alongside that final volume, and the novels will continue through a side-story series whose first part is slated for 2026. Yen Press releases the novels in English.
On screen, the first television anime, adapting Taiki Kawakami’s manga, premiered in October 2018 and was streamed by Crunchyroll. The second season’s first cours arrived in January 2021, the spinoff The Slime Diaries followed in April 2021, and the second season’s second cours began in July 2021, giving the franchise nine straight months of anime that year. The three-episode Coleus’ Dream special debuted in November 2023, and the third season aired two continuous cours from April 2024.
Theatrically, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea opened in Japan on February 27 and was screened by Crunchyroll in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland on May 1. The earlier film, Scarlet Bond, opened in Japan in November 2022.
The practical takeaway is that the gap between seasons is closing rather than widening. A spinoff anime airing in April 2027 and the main season’s third cours arriving three months later means the franchise will have a near-continuous presence on the schedule, which is unusual for a property that once waited years between entries.
