Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4 will close out with an extended finale. The series’ fourth season ends with Episode 19, a 45-minute special, on September 30, 2026.
The episode is the eighth instalment of the season’s second cour, which carries the subtitle “The Recapture Arc.” Studio WHITE FOX is handling animation, as it has throughout the season.
A season that split in two
Season 4 has been running in two parts across 2026. The first cour was one of the year’s biggest critical favourites in anime spaces: Anime Corner’s Spring 2026 awards saw it take home 19 awards, and it has stayed near the top of the site’s weekly rankings late in the run — it placed second in the most recent chart, after Episode 18.
Extending the finale rather than slotting it into the standard broadcast length is a familiar move for a climactic chapter, and it gives the “Recapture Arc” an extra block of runtime to land its ending. It also confirms where the season’s two-cours structure lands: with Episode 19 closing the run and being counted as the eighth episode of the second cour, Season 4 finishes at 19 episodes in total.
The anime adapts Tappei Nagatsuki’s light novel series, illustrated by Shinichiro Otsuka, with the season’s copyright line crediting KADOKAWA and “Re:ZERO4 PARTNERS.”

Why it matters
Re:ZERO remains one of the most discussed light novel adaptations in the industry, and the size of the finale is a useful signal about how much material the “Recapture Arc” is covering. A 45-minute close gives the second cour room to resolve its threads instead of compressing them, which matters for a story built on dense, dialogue-heavy arcs.
It also caps a busy year for the franchise. The anime’s first season aired in 2016, adapting Tappei Nagatsuki’s light novel series with illustrations by Shinichirou Otsuka, and the series has announced 10 major projects tied to its 10th anniversary. Whether the finale opens the door to a fifth season is the obvious next question — nothing on that front has been announced.
