Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is not finished with Season 3. The staff announced on September 27 that the season’s second cour will premiere in 2027, confirming the continuation after the first cour’s Episode 14 aired.
The announcement came with a teaser video. The first cour ended the season’s darkest stretch so far, introducing “future Rudeus” and his diary and closing out that arc in the finale. Crunchyroll streamed the season as part of its Summer 2026 line-up.
What the next cour covers
According to Anime News Network, the story this part of the season adapts comes from the “Eris Training Arc,” a storyline that begins in the 13th volume of Rifujin na Magonote’s original light novel series. The “Chaos Breaker” arc had started with Episode 8 on August 16 of this year.
No specific month, episode count or streaming window beyond “2027” has been announced.
New theme songs
Two new songs are attached to the upcoming cour. Yuiko Ōhara performs the opening theme, “Ketsui no Uta” (Song of Resolve), and Mika Nakashima performs the ending theme, “Inori, Owareba” (If the Prayers Are Over).
Shinoda, the guitarist and vocalist of the rock band Hitorie, wrote the new song’s lyrics and music. Hitorie also performed the second season’s second opening theme, “On The Frontline.”
Where the anime stands so far
Season 3 debuted on Tokyo MX and BS11 on July 5, 2026. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired and is also streaming an English dub.
The earlier seasons set the show’s pattern of split runs. The first adaptation aired in two parts, debuting in January 2021 and then October 2021 after a delay from July, with Funimation handling the stream; Crunchyroll and Hulu now stream the anime, including the unaired side-story OVA episode “Eris the Goblin Slayer.” The second season also aired for two cours, with the first half premiering in July 2023 and the second in April 2024, again streamed by Crunchyroll.
Behind the anime is a light novel series with its own long history. Rifujin na Magonote initially serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from 2012 to 2015, and Kadokawa’s MF Books imprint began publishing a print version in 2014, with the 26th volume shipping in November 2022. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the original main novel series and Yuka Fujikawa’s manga adaptation, along with Shōko Iwami’s spinoff manga Mushoku Tensei: Roxy Gets Serious.
The franchise also has a game side. A free-to-play title, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation: Chronicle of Echoes, launched on July 27. Gree Entertainment is planning and releasing it, and Asobimo is developing and maintaining it.
Why it matters
Split-cour scheduling has become the norm for ambitious isekai adaptations, and Mushoku Tensei is a clear example: Season 3 will have delivered one cour in 2026 and a second in 2027 rather than a single continuous run. For viewers, that means the story pauses on a major turning point and resumes next year, with the exact return still unannounced.
