Black Clover Season 2 has a new pre-premiere visual, released ahead of the anime’s October 3, 2026 premiere. The show also confirmed the title and synopsis of its first episode, which is called “War Begins,” along with a set of preview images.
The new visual is the last major piece of promotion before the season starts airing, and it follows a campaign that has been running since the spring: a main trailer, a main visual starring Asta, Yuno and Noelle, and a theme song announcement, all leading to the October return.
When it premieres and where to watch
Black Clover Season 2 premieres on October 3, 2026, with episode 1 titled “War Begins.” Crunchyroll will stream the anime. The service also hosted an early screening for North America in September as part of Crunchyroll Anime Nights, alongside Firefly Wedding and other titles.
The first episode had already received a world premiere earlier in the year at Anime Expo 2026, so the October 3 date is the wide release rather than a first look.
Returning director and the WANIMA theme song
Ayataka Tanemura is returning to direct the second season, reuniting the creative team behind both the original television anime and the 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. Keeping that group together is one of the clearer signals about what the new season is aiming for — continuity of look and tone rather than a soft reboot.
Rock band WANIMA performs the opening theme, titled “Kienai Riyuu” (“The Reason That Won’t Disappear”). The band previously performed “GONG” for the 2019 film One Piece: Stampede. Vocalist and bassist KENTA shared a short message about the song: “Thank you!! There was something that couldn’t be erased, no matter how hard I tried. Kienai Riyuu. Please give it a listen.”
Tabata’s message to fans
Original creator Yuki Tabata marked the reveal with a new commemorative illustration and a message to readers. He thanked fans for waiting, confirmed that the second season is “finally airing this October,” and noted that the Black Clover manga has reached its conclusion — meaning the anime is now adapting a finished story rather than chasing an ongoing serialization.
That is a meaningful shift for the production. Anime adaptations of manga that are still running have to pace themselves around the source material, front-loading filler or holding arcs back. With the manga complete, the second season can move through the remaining story at its own speed, which is the kind of freedom few long-running shonen adaptations get.
Tabata also framed the season in personal terms, saying that since finishing the manga he has increasingly found himself watching the characters as a fan rather than writing them, and that he is looking forward to seeing the anime’s version of the series’ magic battles.
Why it matters
Black Clover has been one of the more patient franchises in recent anime history. The original television run ended in 2021, the 2023 film served as an interim feature, and the second season is the first full continuation since then. Arriving as one of the headline titles of the fall season, it gives the series a second runway at a point when much of the shonen adaptation slate is focused on new properties.
