Attack on Titan: The Musical Launches World Tour in Singapore in April 2027

Attack on Titan: The Musical is going on the road. The production announced on Tuesday that it will begin a world tour with a run at the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from April 15 to May 2, 2027. Further stops will be announced later.

The musical is the stage adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s manga, and it has already played to audiences in Japan and the United States. A world tour marks the next step for a show that has been testing how far the format can travel.

Who is behind it

Gō Ueki directs, and Masafumi Hata wrote the book. Hip hop artist KEN THE 390 is the music director, with lyrics by Kaori Miura. The production mixes traditional staging and music with technology to recreate the world of the manga, an approach that suits a story built around giant, moving walls and the creatures that breach them.

Where it has played

The musical first ran at the Orix Theater in Osaka and the Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo in January 2023. Its first international performance came at the New York City Center in New York in October 2024. The Singapore run extends that reach into Southeast Asia for the first time.

Live stage versions of the series have a difficult history. An earlier stage play planned for 2017 was cancelled after acrobat Kazutaka Yoshino, 38, died in an on-stage accident during preparations. That cancellation is part of why the successful runs in Japan and New York carry extra weight for the production.

The franchise behind the musical

Isayama launched Attack on Titan in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in 2009 and ended it in April 2021. The manga ran to 34 collected volumes, the last of which shipped in June 2021. Kodansha USA publishes the series in English both digitally and in print.

The anime is complete. The first television season premiered in April 2013, the second in April 2017, and the third arrived in two parts across 2018 and 2019. The Final Season premiered on NHK in December 2020. The Final Season Part 2 followed in January 2022, and the extended finale aired as two specials in March and November 2023. A compilation film of those final chapters, Attack on Titan The Movie: THE LAST ATTACK, opened in Japanese theatres in November 2024 for a limited three-week run, and Toonami began airing the series in January 2024.

The stage show’s timing is deliberate. The manga and anime are both finished, so audiences now come to the musical knowing exactly how the story ends, which changes what a live adaptation has to do. Recreating the ending on stage, rather than the mystery of it, is a different problem than the one the first run solved.

Why it matters

Anime stage adaptations increasingly tour internationally rather than staying in Japan, and Attack on Titan is a strong candidate because its audience is genuinely global. The Singapore run is the test case. If it sells, more cities are likely to follow, and the pattern of recent anime musicals suggests Southeast Asia and Europe are the next markets in line.
