The second season of The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World added two more names to its cast on Thursday, with Shiki Aoki and Kazuyuki Okitsu joining the production ahead of an October 8 premiere on TBS.
The announcement came through the anime’s official website, which confirmed the roles each actor will play in the sequel to the January 2023 series. It also filled in the rest of the returning production team and confirmed where the show will be available outside Japan.
The two new cast members
- Shiki Aoki as Maria Bradley, the younger sister of Rebecca Bradley
- Kazuyuki Okitsu as Marius Basset, one of the Seven Great Magicians
Okitsu’s character matters more than a generic side role would suggest. The Seven Great Magicians sit at the top of the magic hierarchy in the story, and the mystery around which of them is secretly the Iceblade Sorcerer is the spine of the premise. Adding a named member of that group to the voice cast suggests season 2 will spend real time on that thread.
One cast change is also confirmed: Miyu Kubota will voice Elisa Griffith, taking over from Nana Harumura, who retired from voice acting in January for health reasons.
Release date and where to watch
The sequel debuts on TBS on October 8 at 1:23 a.m. Japan time, then moves to BS11 on October 9 at 11:00 p.m. Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs, the same arrangement the first season had.
A studio change for season 2
The most significant behind-the-scenes shift is the animation studio. Cloud Hearts handled season 1; for the sequel, Zero-G is taking over production.

Keeping the director while swapping studios is a reasonable middle path. Takata returning means the tone and pacing should carry over even as a new team draws the show. Character design is where a studio change tends to show up first, and Kawamoto’s work will be the thing fans notice immediately in the new trailers.
What the series is based on
The anime adapts Nana Mikoshiba’s light novel series Hyōken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu. It began on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in October 2019, with the light novel debut following in July 2020 and illustrations by Riko Korie. Kodansha publishes the novels in print in Japan.
Norihito Sasaki’s manga adaptation ran on Magazine Pocket from June 2020 until January 2024, ending with its 16th volume in April 2024. A sequel manga launched on May 27 of this year, illustrated by Nao Kagami with composition by Ishiya Ōgane, and is published through Kodansha’s Suiyōbi no Sirius label.
The first season aired in January 2023, and Crunchyroll streamed both the subtitled run and an English dub.
Why it matters
Light novel adaptations getting a second season is normal; getting one after a three-year gap with a new studio is a bigger commitment than it looks. Zero-G is taking on a fantasy action series with an established look, and the success of the sequel will probably come down to whether the new visuals land with people who watched season 1. Most of the story material is already there, and the sequel manga gives the production a clear direction to follow.
