Kashiko Amane’s Everyone’s Darling Has a Secret manga is getting a television anime, and it now has a window. A new X account for the adaptation opened on Monday to announce that the series will premiere next April — placing it in the spring 2027 season.
The same announcement confirmed the main cast and the core production team. The manga is known in Japan as Hōkago no Idol ni wa Himitsu ga Aru.
Main cast
Four roles were revealed with the premiere window:
- Reiji Kawashima as Hizashi Hiruno
- Hikaru Tōno as Rei Kuromiya
- =LOVE idol group member Iori Noguchi as Sakura Akai
- Ami Maeshima as Sora Konno
The cast reveal was accompanied by short comment videos from the performers, posted through the anime’s official channels.
Staff and studio
Hikaru Sato is directing the anime at the studio Gekkō. Sato’s recent credits include The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You and Dropkick on My Devil!.
Fumihiko Shimo is overseeing and writing the series scripts. Shimo’s long résumé includes BOFURI: I Don’t Want to Get Hurt, so I’ll Max Out My Defense., Full Metal Panic! and Infinite Stratos.
Kibidango 14-gō — the pen name associated with Azuma Tozawa and Wash It All Away — is designing the characters. Music is being composed by Satoru Kōsaki, whose credits include The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, the Monogatari series and Aharen-san wa Hakarenai, working alongside the MONACA music production group. Ryō Aizawa of Starry Cube is producing.
About the manga
Kashiko Amane has been serializing the manga on Hakusensha’s Young Animal Web site since September 2022. Hakusensha published the ninth collected volume in July 2026, and Yen Press publishes the series in English, having released the fourth volume in June 2026.
The premise, as Yen Press describes it, follows Hizashi Hiruno, a freshman at a super-elite high school who has just finished his first academic proficiency test of the year. A mistake on his answer sheet sends his score into the floor and lands him in remedial lessons — where, as the publisher puts it, his fellow remedial student could be the girl of his dreams.
That setup, a school comedy built around an unlikely pairing, is the kind of material that has driven several successful anime adaptations in recent seasons, and the title’s “secret” hook gives the romance its central tension.
Why it matters
April 2027 is starting to fill up, and this is a solid spring-season pickup rather than a filler title: a director with recent hit comedy credits, a veteran series composer and a music team that regularly works on character-driven shows. For English-language readers, the manga is already available through Yen Press, which means the source material is easy to sample before the anime arrives.
