Viz Media Puts JoJolion in Deluxe Hardcover for Summer 2027

Viz Media laid out its summer 2027 lineup on Friday, and the biggest name on the list is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Part 8—JoJolion. Hirohiko Araki’s series will finally get an English release in a deluxe hardcover edition with color pages, with volume 1 set for summer 2027.

That is the part of the announcement worth slowing down for. JoJolion has never had an official English print run, and Viz is not slotting it into a quiet backlist corner. Hardcover, color pages, the same premium treatment the publisher gives Araki’s earlier parts.

The reveal came through Viz’s X account, where the company rolled out 13 titles in one batch. Manga, two art-adjacent books, a novel, a coloring book, and a Studio Ghibli film comic.

Kamisama Kiss gets a complete box set

All 25 volumes of Julietta Suzuki’s shōjo series, plus a double-sided poster and a 32-page mini art book with the original Japanese cover art. For a series that has been hard to collect in one go, that is the version buyers have been asking for.

Dandadan, Kojima, and two licensed books

Dandadan fans get the official character guide by Yukinobu Tatsu. Character profiles, trivia, plot summaries, and 22 pages of brand-new manga. Not a databook of reused panels, at least by the publisher’s description.

Then there is Hideo Kojima’s The Gifted Gene: 70% of My Body is Made of Movies, a hardcover novel arriving as a follow-up to The Creative Gene. It covers the films, books, places, and art that shaped the man behind Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid. Viz is publishing prose now with the same confidence it publishes manga, and it keeps working.

Two licensed books round out the list. Jujutsu Kaisen: The Official Coloring Book collects 80 pages of Gege Akutami’s manga art. The Howl’s Moving Castle Film Comic gets an all-in-one hardcover edition in full color, with Hayao Miyazaki credited as creator, presenting the Studio Ghibli film scene by scene in panels.

The seven new manga series

Someone Hertz by Ei Yamano. A straitlaced overachiever and a slacker girl meet through their shared love of submitting entries to a joke competition on a late-night comedy radio show. The romance builds as the contest heats up.

Under Doctor by Kyo Tanimoto. Haiji Kino was born into an assassin family and uses his talents as a travelling doctor instead. The publisher’s summary is blunt about the catch: a new life is no clean slate.

His Sweet Solace by Rose Takada. Aoba’s writing career is stalling. Her editor suggests she write about sex services for women, and curiosity and loneliness pull her into a world where the line between love and work blurs.

Belladonna’s Lover by Ru1mm. A yuri title about a cursed forest witch named Bella and a struggling artist named Anna, who try to break the curse with true love’s kiss. The volume also carries two more fairy tale-inspired yuri romances.

Bus for Two by Sakane Toyobayashi. Childhood friends Shunpei and An ride the same bus every day and have not spoken in years. Awkward banter follows.

Diabo a Quatro by Mariana. Two rival witch apprentices, Sandro and Rafael, wake the Great Conqueror Witch Guiomar by accident and have to undo the curse before her past catches up with them.

Astray by Wishroomness and Keon Tan. An alien mercenary kidnaps Uni’s cat, and Uni ends up stranded in a distant galaxy with no money for the trip home, taking galactic gigs alongside the same mercenary.

Why the JoJolion release matters

The announcement closes a long gap. English readers have followed Araki’s series in order for years, and Part 8 sat as the missing piece. It is set in the same alternate universe as Steel Ball Run, returning to Morioh for a new mystery, which makes it an easy entry point for anyone who started with the Steel Ball Run anime in the Fall 2026 season and wants to keep going in the same world.

The Kamisama Kiss box set matters for a different reason. Twenty-five volumes is a serious shelf commitment, and complete sets are how publishers keep older shōjo catalogues alive for readers who arrived late. Viz has been working that same shelf with its recent Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom license and its ongoing JoJo hardcovers.

Everything listed is scheduled for summer 2027, so expect individual release dates and prices to follow closer to the season.
