Maka Mochida’s Daily Report About My Witch Senpai published its final chapter on Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross website on Monday. Mochida also said the sixth and seventh volumes will both ship on December 16, and the seventh is the last one.
Two volumes at once at the end is unusual, and it suggests the publisher had chapters banked and ready rather than cutting the series short. The gap between the last chapter and the final books is about seven weeks.
What the series is about
Misono is an office worker with ordinary problems and one unusual ally: his senpai Shizuka, who is a witch. She helps everyone around her, and Misono thinks she should look after herself for once, since flying around town on a broom for errands wears her down. The question the series asks is whether his fussing is respect or something else. It runs as a romantic comedy, and Seven Seas Entertainment publishes it in English.
The setup is small on purpose. No world to save, no tournament, no demon king. Just an office, a witch who overcommits, and a junior who notices.
An eight-year run with a stop in the middle
Mochida launched the manga in Manga Cross in August 2018. The 42nd chapter went up in November 2020, and then the series stopped. Mochida picked it back up in April 2022 with a sequel, and the continuation was numbered as chapter 43, which kept the reading order intact instead of restarting the count.
That break explains the volume math. Seven volumes across eight years, with a year and a half of silence in the middle, is a slower schedule than the chapter count alone would imply.
For English readers, Seven Seas released the fifth volume in November 2025. With the Japanese edition ending at seven volumes, the English release still has a couple of books to go, and those will trail the December 16 date.
Why endings like this are worth noting
Manga Cross runs several romantic comedies that live or die on a single relationship, and the ones that finish on their own terms are rarer than the ones that fade. Mochida ending the series with two volumes of material instead of a rushed final chapter is the better outcome.
The title also sits in a crowded field. Witch-and-office-worker romances have been steady sellers for years, and this one built its audience slowly, without an anime to push it. Seven Seas picking it up and staying with it through five volumes is the clearest sign it found readers outside Japan.
Nothing has been announced about an anime adaptation, and with the manga finishing, an announcement now would have a complete story to adapt, which is often when these things happen. That is speculation, not news. Mochida has not said what comes next.
Where to read it
The final chapter is on Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross site, which publishes the series for free. Seven Seas has the English volumes, with the fifth out since November 2025. The Japanese sixth and seventh volumes arrive together on December 16.
For readers who have been following along since 2018, that December date closes a run that took a long detour and still landed properly.
