Yumene Connect TV Anime Announced With Studio Massket, First Trailer and Cast

Shochiku announced on Wednesday that Yumene Connect, Kou Sawada’s comedy manga, is getting a TV anime. The reveal came with a teaser trailer, a teaser visual, the two lead voice actors, and the main production staff. Studio Massket is handling the animation.

The announcement went out through the anime’s new official website and X account. There is no premiere window yet, so the teaser trailer is the only look at the show so far.

Who is making it

Sōta Yokote is directing. Yokote was the director on the third season of To Your Eternity. Gigaemon Echikawa is writing and overseeing the series scripts, with credits on Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden, A Galaxy Next Door, and A Gatherer’s Adventure in Isekai.

Yoshihiro Watanabe is the character designer. His previous work includes Haganai, Overflow, and Adam’s Sweet Agony. Hayato Matsumura is composing the score, Lantis is handling music production, and Shochiku is presenting the series. (The title also shows up as Yumeneconnect in some listings.)

The cast

  • Yūsuke Kobayashi as Yūhi Takamiya
  • Yū Sasahara as Nano

Both are billed as the leads. Kobayashi is one of the busier male voice actors in the industry, with roles across light novel and romance adaptations, and Sasahara has moved from supporting parts into leading ones over the past few years.

What the story is

Yūhi Takamiya is a sickly boy who has missed school since his very first day of high school. Alone in his room, he cries out that he wants friends. Something answers. An alien from the planet Pokotsun named Nano appears and starts making aggressive sales pitches for a string of ridiculous products, including a creature described as the most dangerous form of life in the galaxy. Each one leaves Yūhi’s life a little more stimulating than before.

The premise reads as a gag setup first and a story about loneliness second, which is roughly the space the manga has occupied since it began.

The manga behind it

Sawada launched Yumene Connect in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in September 2024. The series has nine collected volumes in print, and Kodansha will publish the tenth on Friday, October 16. Announcing the anime days before a new volume lands is a familiar pattern for Kodansha, and it lets the publisher point viewers at shelf-ready material right away.

Weekly Shōnen Magazine has been a productive source of adaptations lately. For a look at the wider field of announced titles, our 2027 anime releases guide tracks what has been dated so far, and our coverage of Manchuria Opium Squad’s anime adaptation follows another magazine title through the same announcement cycle.

Why it matters

A comedy with no release date and a teaser that shows almost nothing is not much to go on, but the staffing is the interesting part. Pairing a director with a recent To Your Eternity season behind him and a scriptwriter with a steady run of comedy and romance credits suggests the show will lean on character rhythm rather than spectacle. Whether that works depends on the next trailer, which should also firm up a broadcast window.
