The Charisma anime has a fuller production team. The staff for the television anime of Evil Line Records (the label behind Hypnosis Mic) and the intellectual property company Dazed’s “Chōjin-teki Share House Story Charisma” project revealed a new key visual and more staff members on Sunday, October 4.
Evil Line Records and Dazed launched the original project in 2021. It revolves around 2D characters who embody “charisma” in the original sense of the term — divinely gifted elemental traits — and who live together in a share house (a residence with some shared facilities, like a kitchen) while chasing even higher goals.
The production team
Jōji Furuta (Bad Girl, ēlDLIVE, Utano☆Princesama Legend Star, the 2021 Shaman King) is directing the anime at Pierrot Films. Original creator Shū Matsubara is overseeing and writing the series scripts, and Evil Line Records is in charge of music. Alongside Matsubara, Dazed is credited for the original work, and Ebimo is credited for the original character designs. TBS Television is the production manager.
Furuta’s recent work has leaned toward stylized, high-energy material, and a project built around distinct character identities is a reasonable fit. Pierrot Films is the same house behind other recent Pierrot projects, including the newly announced limited Naruto TV anime series.
What Charisma is
Charisma is unusual in that it did not begin as a light novel, a manga or a video game. It started as a music-driven character project. Evil Line Records and Dazed introduced the characters and their shared-house premise in 2021, and the project has since spawned musical releases and live concerts, which explains why music is such a prominent credited element in the anime’s staff.
The concept — a group of “charismatic” individuals with elemental traits living under one roof — is built to support both ensemble comedy and full-cast musical numbers, so the anime is less an adaptation of a single narrative than a screen extension of an existing multimedia brand.
Two manga spinoffs
The project has already produced manga in two different flavors. Rin Manda and Iori Irino serialized the four-panel comedy Charisma: Kyō mo Heiwa Desu in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine from January 2023 to December 2024, with two volumes compiled. Separately, Sō Tobita serialized Charisma: Charisma na Karera wa Charisma House de Karizumai-chū on Kodansha’s Comic Days site from February to December 2023, also with two volumes compiled.
That the brand has supported a four-panel gag strip, a slice-of-life comedy and a stage-and-music program at the same time says a lot about how flexible the underlying premise is meant to be.
Why it matters
Original projects tied to a music label occupy a specific niche: they arrive with a built-in fanbase and a merchandising and live-event pipeline, but they also have to prove they can hold up as animated storytelling rather than as a delivery mechanism for songs. The staff list suggests the production is leaning into that identity rather than hiding it.
No premiere date, cast list or streaming partner has been announced. We will update this article as those details are confirmed.
