Kazu Kakazu has a new series on the way. The 45th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump announced on Monday that the creator will launch a new manga titled Yosuga Tagurite on the publisher’s vertical-scrolling service Jump Toon on October 9.
The move places Kakazu on Shueisha’s newer, smartphone-first platform rather than the print magazine, a path an increasing number of Jump creators have taken as the company pushes its vertical-scroll catalogue.
What Yosuga Tagurite is about
Shueisha’s announcement describes the series as centering on Yosuga, a half-human, half-yokai boy who is reviled as a monster. His destiny changes when he meets Shiki, a young man who shares the same golden eyes as him.
That premise — a boy rejected by the world around him, and a fateful encounter with someone who mirrors him — is a familiar starting point for a supernatural action series, though the announcement stops short of detailing the story’s genre, setting or tone beyond that setup.
Who is Kazu Kakazu
Yosuga Tagurite is not Kakazu’s first time in the Shonen Jump ecosystem. The creator launched Our Blood Oath (Bokura no Ketsumei) in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2020 and ended it in January 2021 after a short run. Shueisha released two compiled volumes of that series, and both Viz Media’s Shonen Jump service and MANGA Plus published it in English.
Before that, Kakazu published a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2019 titled “Seiyaku no Aka” (Red Pledge). Taken together, the new series is the creator’s most substantial launch to date — a fresh start on a platform built for a different, mobile-native reading pattern.
What is Jump Toon
Jump Toon is Shueisha’s vertical-scrolling manga service, designed for the same kind of phone-first, scroll-down reading format popularised by webtoons and rival apps. It has become a notable destination for both new creators and established names experimenting with the format, and it sits alongside Shonen Jump+ in the publisher’s digital lineup. Unlike a print magazine debut, a Jump Toon launch does not come with a fixed weekly page count, which gives series room to pace themselves around the scroll rather than the page turn.

Why it matters
Shueisha has been steadily shifting part of its new-manga output toward digital-first, vertical-scroll platforms, and giving a returning Jump creator a slot there is a signal of how the publisher wants that catalogue to grow. For readers, the launch is also a chance to see how a creator with a short-lived print serialisation develops with more room to work.
It continues a busy stretch for digital manga launches. MANGA Plus recently added the Digimon Eggs manga as a simulpub in early October, and Kodansha’s K MANGA service recently brought Adachitoka’s The Wolf at Memory’s End to English readers — a reminder that the day’s biggest manga news increasingly happens on apps rather than in print.
