You Are a Four Leaf Clover is ending. The 45th issue of Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion confirmed that Koushi’s romantic suspense manga will wrap up in the magazine’s next issue on October 15.
The ending lines up with the print release. Retailers had already listed the 12th collected volume as the final one, and it ships on December 8. Akita Shoten published the 11th volume on Wednesday, so the last two books arrive close together.
What the manga is about
The series, titled Kimi wa Yotsuba no Clover in Japan, follows Uichi. He was popular once, but high school has turned into a daily round of bullying. He keeps going because of a promise he made to Yotsuha, his first love from elementary school, before she transferred away: he wants to become a veterinarian.
Just as the bullying pushes him to his limit, Yotsuha reappears. She looks the way he remembers, unchanged by the years. The one difference is a hidden resolve behind her eyes. The setup is part romance and part suspense, and the clover in the title runs through the story’s central hook. That mix of sweet and unsettling is what the “romantic suspense” label is there to signal.
The Japanese name is worth a note for English readers. Yotsuba translates to “four leaves,” and the title pairs that word with clover, so the manga’s English title is a looser rendering of the original instead of a direct one. The luck and rarity a four-leaf clover stands for sit close to the center of the story.
A short run with a fast rise
Koushi launched the manga in Weekly Shōnen Champion in July 2024, so the whole series will run a little over two years and close at 12 volumes. That is brisk for a Weekly Shōnen Champion title, and it suggests a story the author plotted toward an ending instead of stretching out.
An anime adaptation is also in the works. No date, studio or cast details have been announced, and the end of the manga does not appear to change those plans. Anime based on finished manga are common, and a completed source can make for a tighter production.
Why it matters
Endings are piling up on the manga schedule this month. Hirayasumi will finish on October 19 with two final chapters, and Kuri Hime Ayakashi Yobanashi ends on October 28. Babanba Banban Vampire has entered its final stage as well. Several long-running titles are closing at once, and that says something about how publishers are managing their lineups right now.
For You Are a Four Leaf Clover, the finish comes before any anime has aired. That runs against the usual route, where a manga ends once an adaptation has already built an audience. Here the anime will adapt a complete story.
The final chapter arrives in Weekly Shōnen Champion on October 15, with the last volume following on December 8. Readers who want the ending in print will not have long to wait, and for a series this young, that kind of clean, complete run is rarer than it sounds in a market full of open-ended serializations.
