Ei Ohitsuji’s Ochibure Zeus to Dorei no Ko Manga Changes Publisher

Ei Ohitsuji’s Ochibure Zeus to Dorei no Ko is moving publishers. The November issue of Asahi Shimbun Publications’ Nemuki+ magazine announced on Tuesday that the manga, also known as Fallen Zeus and the Slave Boy, will shift to Ichijinsha’s Zero-Sum Online manga website in spring 2027.

The move comes with a few conditions. Digital sales of the current edition will stop on October 31, though anyone who already bought the volumes keeps access after distribution ends. Ohitsuji also confirmed the news on X and said the series will restart on Zero-Sum Online from chapter one, with revisions and corrections folded in. The first two chapters, in particular, will differ noticeably from the versions readers have now.

One thing the creator wanted to make clear: the fifth compiled volume already out will still connect cleanly to the sixth volume that Ichijinsha plans to publish. So the reset is a production change, not a story reboot.

Where the Series Stands

Ohitsuji launched the manga in Nemuki+ in February 2022. Asahi Shimbun Publications put out the first volume in 2023 and the fifth in March 2025. The first part of the story closed with the “Egypt Arc” in December 2025, and that ending came with a hiatus announcement. Ohitsuji said at the time the break was meant to let them review and adjust the production setup and to recover their health.

The publisher change and the return are the two halves of the same decision. Rather than resume in the old magazine, the series picks up somewhere new, with the creator getting a chance to fix early chapters before new readers meet them.

Why It Matters

Ochibure Zeus to Dorei no Ko joins a growing list of manga that have traded one publisher for another mid-run. Kaoru Mori’s A Bride’s Story made a similar jump to Yukiwarisō earlier this month, and both cases point to the same thing: creators and their backers reworking where a series lives rather than ending it outright.

For readers, the practical fallout is the digital delisting. October 31 is the last day to buy the current digital volumes before they disappear from storefronts, even though the print books and already-purchased copies stay put.

The hiatus angle is worth watching too. Ohitsuji tied the break to their health, which is the same reason behind several recent manga pauses, including Go! Go! Loser Ranger!’s return from a health hiatus. A creator stepping back, then returning with a fresh publisher and revised pages, is a more encouraging outcome than a series simply going quiet.

Ohitsuji is also the artist behind Though I Am an Inept Villainess, the manga adaptation of Satsuki Nakamura’s light novels. That series runs in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Zero-Sum, and Ichijinsha published its 11th volume on September 30. Seven Seas publishes it in English and released volume nine on August 4. The existing relationship with Ichijinsha may explain why Zero-Sum Online is the new home.

Fans can expect the revised chapters to start rolling out on Zero-Sum Online in spring 2027.
