Yen Press announced ten acquisitions at its industry panel at MCM London Comic Con on Sunday, and all of them arrive in April 2027. The batch runs across three imprints: six manga, two light novels under Yen On, and two audiobooks under Yen Audio.
The manga list is the part most readers will care about. Secret: Homicide Edition brings back Yoshiki Tonogai, the creator of Doubt, in an all-new deluxe omnibus. The premise sets six survivors of a bus crash against an anonymous message claiming three of them are murderers, with one week to answer for their crimes or the evidence goes to the police.
My Yandere Girlfriend Hiding in the Dungeon Kills Me Over and Over Again comes from Eiji Nomura with a story by Nikita Kitagawa. The hero, Kiska, is banished to the deepest level of a dungeon for a crime he did not commit and survives on a skill called Save & Reset, which lets him retry after dying.
About a Place in the Kinki Region adapts Sesuji’s found-footage novel, with art by Tsukasa Usui. An occult magazine editor disappears while researching local ghost stories, and his friend pieces together the case from old articles, reader mail and forum posts.
My Childhood Friend Meows Under the Skirt is by Raku Nanahashi from a story by Hotori Handa. A girl who has not spoken to her childhood friend in over a year ends up in the same class, and a cat’s curse forces the two back together.
Summer Boy Blues is Miyako Tōno’s boys-love story about two former partners who meet again during high school entrance exam season. Is the Hot-Voiced Streamer Into Me?! from APEKO follows a college student who learns that his favorite ASMR roleplay streamer is someone he actually knows.
The light novels and audiobooks
The two Yen On novels are Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie: Extra Round! by Hiroro Akizakura with art by Dangmill, and And Thus, the Wizard Noi Garené Became a Bride 100 Years Later by Eiko Mutsuhana. The Cecilia Sylvie book collects short stories set after the main series, including an alternate route where she falls for Gilbert instead of Oscar.
On the audio side, Yen Audio is producing Scarlet, an adaptation of Mamoru Hosoda’s novel, and ‘Cause I’m Freedom! by Tarō Hitsuji with illustrations by Azumi Akitake. Hosoda directed The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Summer Wars and Belle, so his name on a Yen Audio release carries weight beyond the usual light novel audience.
Ten titles in one month
April 2027 as a single launch month for ten titles is a lot to put on retailers at once. It also tells you something about how Yen Press is scheduling: rather than spread acquisitions across the year, it is clustering them, which makes the slate easier to market as a group but harder for any one title to stand out.
The mix is worth noting too. Two boys-love titles, a horror omnibus from a known name, a found-footage adaptation, and a light novel spin-off volume is not a lineup built around one trend. Yen Press has been doing this long enough that it can spread its bets, and the Tonogai omnibus in particular looks aimed at the shelf of someone who already owns Doubt and Judge.
For anyone tracking licensing season, this follows the company’s New York Comic Con batch of 17 titles from earlier this month, which included Kafka’s Journey and Lilies in Love for 101 Days. Two large rounds within weeks is unusual, and it means the 2027 release calendar is getting crowded. Competitors have been busy at the same time, with Kodansha USA announcing 10 licenses and a Print Club slate and Seven Seas picking up more titles in the same window.
What is not known
Page counts, formats and prices for any of the ten. Yen Press typically confirms those closer to release, and the covers shown at the panel are marked as not final. The April 2027 date is the only scheduling commitment so far, and a shared month does not mean a shared day.
