SNK rolled out a new animated trailer on Thursday for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and it’s built entirely around Kim Kaphwan — the DLC fighter who joined the roster the same day.
If you’ve been following the game’s trailer series, the name behind this one will look familiar. Masami Ōbari returned as director and creative producer, having handled the previous animated trailers for the title. Studio G-1 Neo produced the animation this time around.
Ōbari’s CV is a nostalgia trip for anyone who grew up on fighting game anime: Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture, The King of Fighters XV, Battle Arena Toshinden. Handing him the Kim Kaphwan spotlight is a safe bet, and it shows.
Who’s voicing him
June Yoon handles the English voice, with Kunihiro Kawamoto on the Japanese side. SNK also dropped Kim’s character guide and background music alongside the trailer, so there’s plenty to dig into if you’re deciding whether he fits your team.
Where Season 3 stands
The season kicked off on July 23 with six characters lined up, and it’s been rolling out steadily since:

- Duck King — August 27
- Manjiro Sano & Ken Ryuguji (from Tokyo Revengers) — October
- Laocorn — November
- Mystery character — December
Two Tokyo Revengers characters landing in a Fatal Fury game is exactly the kind of crossover SNK has leaned into lately, and honestly, it works better than it has any right to.
A roster that never stops growing
Remember: this is a game that already has Cristiano Ronaldo and DJ Salvatore Ganacci in it. The crossover approach isn’t a gimmick here, it’s the business model.
Season Pass 1 brought the Street Fighter collaboration — Ken and Chun-Li — after Ken landed in August 2025, Joe Higashi in October 2025, Chun-Li in November 2025, and MR. BIG in December 2025. Season Pass 2 opened with Kim Jae Hoon on January 22, followed by Nightmare Geese (February 26), Blue Mary (March 26), Wolfgang Krauser (April 24, timed to the game’s first anniversary), Mr. Karate (May 27), and Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star on June 28.
The base roster isn’t thin either, with Terry Bogard, Rock Howard, Mai Shiranui, B. Jenet, Billy Kane, and Gato among the returning names, plus newcomers Preecha and Vox Reaper.
The bigger picture
City of the Wolves is the first new entry in the mainline series in more than two decades — Garou: Mark of the Wolves landed back in 1999 — and SNK announced it at EVO back in 2022.
Between the character pipeline and the trailer treatment each DLC fighter gets, the studio is clearly treating this as a long-haul project rather than a nostalgia cash-in. Whether the December mystery character tops Kenshiro is the real question.
