The anime of The Final-Boss Prince is Somehow Obsessed with the Chubby Villainess: Reincarnated Me will premiere in January 2027. The official site unveiled the first full promotional video, a first key visual, additional cast and staff, and the premiere window on Wednesday. In Japan the series will air on Tokyo MX, BS NTV, AT-X, and CBC TV, and stream on d Anime Store.

Staff
Naoyuki Kuzuya (Possibly the Greatest Alchemist of All Time) directs at Studio Lings, with Shūsaku Katō as assistant director and Mitsutaka Hirota (Edens Zero) overseeing and writing the series scripts. Fumino Kakihata and Yukiko Sekita handle character design, joined by Nozomi Ikuyama. Yuri Takagi and Keito Watanabe are art directors, Taeko Mizuno is the color key artist, Kenji Takehara is the compositing director of photography, Hitomi Sudō edits, Ryōsuke Naya directs sound, and Tsubasa Itō (Skeleton Knight in Another World) composes the music. Infinite is producing.
What it’s about
Per the manga’s English publisher Manga Mirai: after dying of illness, the protagonist wakes up as Celine, the selfish, overweight villainess duchess — and the older sister of the heroine of a popular novel. If she stays on script, she will be killed by the hero prince and die miserably. She vows to reform herself with everything she has, only to find herself caught up in unexpected doting and obsession. It is a fantasy romance built around a yandere love interest who loves her far too much.

Kotoko writes and Kaname Hanamiya draws the manga, which launched in April 2023; the fifth compiled volume shipped in Japan on February 14. The series reports over 70 million downloads. Media Do, NTT Docomo, Akatsuki Group, and MyAnimeList’s joint digital service Manga Mirai publish the series in English until December.
Why it matters
The “reincarnated as the villainess” premise is one of the most saturated setups in the light-novel and webcomic space, so the differentiator here is the specific twist: the heroine is the villainess’s younger sister, and the danger comes less from the plot she is trying to avoid than from a prince who refuses to let her go. Pairing that with a family of doting love interests is what the manga’s download numbers suggest has connected with readers.
January 2027 also puts the show in a crowded winter season, alongside other light-novel fantasy adaptations such as Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden. Whether it stands out will depend on how well the anime translates the comedy of Celine’s attempts to reform herself.
