Another of Mashimesa Emoto’s web novels is on its way to the page. The 37th issue of Champion Buzz, the digital supplement to Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine, revealed on Thursday that artist Hikari will launch a manga adaptation of Emoto’s story in the supplement’s next issue on November 5.
The source novel has a title that explains its premise on its own: Dansō o Shiirare Otoko to Shite Ikitekita Kōshaku Reijo wa, 2-kaime no Jinsei wa Dress o Kite, Reijō Life o Ōka Shitai — roughly, The Ducal Heiress Who Was Forced to Dress and Live as a Man Wants to Enjoy Their Second Life as an Heiress in a Dress.
What the story is about
The original centres on Euclid, the heir to a ducal house who was born a girl and forced to live and dress as a man. When Euclid and their rival and political enemy Virol lose their lives in a fight against a dragon, Euclid admits with their dying breath that they would like to befriend Virol in their next life. The next moment, Euclid wakes up as a baby, holding a second chance at life.
Emoto serialised the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website from September to October 2025, so the manga arrives while the source is still very recent.
Why Champion Buzz
Champion Buzz is a digital supplement that runs alongside Akita Shoten’s long-running Weekly Shōnen Champion, and it has become a home for new and experimental serialisations. Placing the adaptation there keeps the launch low-risk and gives the series a label identity tied to one of Japan’s established manga magazines. The November 5 date coincides with the supplement’s next issue.
Emoto’s growing catalogue
Emoto has become a busy name across Japan’s web-novel and adaptation scene. On May 12, Odayaka launched a manga adaptation of Emoto’s Goodbye, Horrible Fiancé, Hello, Fun Magic School Life! (Konyakusha o Sutetara, Tanoshii Mahō Gakkō no Seikatsu ga Matteimashita!) on Square Enix’s Gangan Online app.
That story first appeared on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2023. Micro Magazine’s GC Novels imprint published the first volume with illustrations by Akane Nitou in May 2025, followed by a second volume in December, and Cross Infinite World is releasing the light novels in English.
Emoto is also known for titles such as I Don’t Want To Be the Dragon Duke’s Maid!, A Surprisingly Happy Engagement for the Slime Duke, Expedition Cooking with the Enoch Royal Knights and Botsuraku Reijō no Ikoku Kekkonroku — a catalogue that leans heavily on the fantasy-romance and reincarnation space where web novels regularly graduate into manga and anime.
Why it matters
Web-novel-to-manga adaptations remain one of the fastest routes from a self-published story to a printed volume, and Emoto’s work is moving through that pipeline quickly. Adapting a story less than a year after it first ran on Shōsetsuka ni Narō suggests the publisher is betting on the author’s name as much as on the title.
It also continues a strong week for adaptation news. Keishi Ayasato’s Seijo Seisen light novels are getting a manga adaptation, and light novels such as Looks like a Job for a Maid! are moving toward anime. Manga and anime adaptations are now the standard second life for a popular web novel.
There is no word yet on a print collected release or an English licence for the new Champion Buzz series. We will update this article if Akita Shoten or Hikari confirm more details.
