Reincarnated as a Sword has reached its next arc, and the show has finally shown it. The anime’s official website posted a third promo video, a second key visual and five new cast members on Thursday, all for the Seedrun Arc of season 2. The arc begins with episode 6.
Katsuyuki Konishi joins as Valuza. Satsuki Kokubu plays Fult, Yurie Kozakai plays Satia, Hazuki Ogino plays Miriam, and Sayumi Suzushiro plays Sellimea Velmerillo Seedrun. That is a full supporting bench arriving at once, which suggests the arc leans on a group rather than a single new antagonist.
Where season 2 stands
The season has been running since the start of October. Episodes went up on ABEMA on September 30, and the television run began October 7 across Tokyo MX, ABC TV, BS Asahi and AT-X. HIDIVE carries the series as it airs in Japan and gave the season a North American premiere at Anime NYC on August 22. It is one of the busier fantasy titles in a crowded fall 2026 season.
Production has not changed
Shinji Ishihira, whose credits include Fairy Tail and Log Horizon, is directing at C2C again. Takahiro Nagano is on series composition and scripts, Atsuko Saitō designs the characters, and Yasuharu Takanashi is composing. The assistant director is Kazunobu Shimizu. Chie Sakurai, Jumpei Mukai and Shōta Yano handle monster design, Rino Isago, Satoshi Sakai and Shunya Nitta are the action directors, Masahiro Satō is art director, Masaaki Onodera is director of photography, Hinokuni Animation handles 3DCG, and Shōji Hata is music director.
The returning leads are Ai Kakuma as Fran, Shinichirō Miki as Master and Yūma Uchida as Jean du Vix. FZMZ performs the opening theme “Dream of Butterfly” and Hanabie. performs the ending theme “Baribari Buddy.”
Twelve episodes ran in the first season back in fall 2022, also on HIDIVE with a dub produced later.
What the source material has been doing
Yuu Tanaka started the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narou site in October 2015, and Micro Magazine has been publishing it under the GC Novels imprint with LLO’s illustrations since July 2016. The 21st volume shipped on September 30.
Tomoo Maruyama’s manga adaptation has been running on Denshi Birz since December 2016, and the 20th volume came out September 24. Seven Seas releases the light novels and the manga in English, along with the Another Wish spinoff. A second spinoff, titled Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita My Dish, launched on Micro Magazine’s Comic Ride service on September 30 from Itsuki Fujioka.
Why episode 6 matters
An arc change mid-cour means a viewer who fell behind during October gets a clean entry point in the next week or two, and the new cast announcement exists to tell them so. Anime productions rarely reveal five names at once unless those names carry the back half of a season.
Fran and Master are still the reason anyone watches. The premise, a sword with a past life’s memories and a cat-eared girl who picks him up, does the heavy lifting, and the show’s appeal is the pairing doing odd jobs that turn into fights. Seedrun widens the cast around them, which is either what the story needed or a test of how much the two leads can carry.
There is no break announced between arcs. Episode 6 arrives as part of the ongoing broadcast.
