Snowball Earth has passed one million copies in circulation and is entering its final arc, author Yuhiro Tsujitsugu announced on X on Thursday. Tsujitsugu marked the milestone with a new illustration celebrating the series.
Both pieces of news landed together, which gives readers a firm signal that the story is heading toward its conclusion rather than a vague “someday” ending. No chapter count for the final arc has been announced.
What the series is
Snowball Earth opens with an alien invasion fought off by a giant robot named Yukio and its pilot, Tetsuo Yabusame. When the robot is destroyed and Tetsuo survives in an escape pod, he wakes from eight years of cold sleep to find Earth frozen over. The manga follows what happened to humanity, how the planet iced over, and whether Tetsuo can keep the last promise he made to Yukio.

A final arc announcement is the clearest roadmap a manga can give its readers, and for English-language fans it sets up an unusual situation: the end of the story is now in sight, but the official English volumes are still two releases behind. That usually pushes more readers toward the digital chapter releases to follow the ending as it happens.
It also gives the announced second season of the anime a defined endpoint to work toward. Studios typically prefer to know how much material remains when planning further seasons, and a manga that has already declared its final arc is an easier adaptation target than one still expanding in uncertain directions.
The announcement lands amid a busy stretch of end-of-series and final-arc news in manga this month, including the conclusion of Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail Re:Fantasia miniseries on September 30 and the ending of My Tiny Senpai, which wraps with its 14th volume next April.
