The World’s Strongest Witch Anime Casts Nana Mizuki Ahead of October 7 Premiere

The World’s Strongest Witch has locked in a veteran for its opening episode. The official website for the television anime of Mochimaru Sakaki’s light novel series announced on Wednesday that Nana Mizuki will voice Yggdrasil, the spirit of the World Tree. The character will appear in the anime’s first episode on October 7.

The anime premieres on Tokyo MX, BS11 and TV Aichi on October 7, with MBS following on October 10.

Cast, staff and music

Mizuki’s role is a one-episode guest spot rather than a lead, but it is a notable get for a series launching this season. Jōji Furuta, whose credits include ēlDLIVE, Double Decker! Doug & Kirill and Bad Girl, is directing at the studios Bridge and Aisle. Shoji Yonemura, whose credits include Pokémon Journeys: The Series, One Piece from 2013 onward and Bad Girl, is handling the series scripts, and Yūki Morimoto, whose credits include Cardfight!! Vanguard GZ and Boarding School Juliet, is designing the characters.

HoneyWorks feat. HaKoniwalily perform the opening theme song “Eikyōryoku∞Idol” (Infinitely Influential Idol), while the group Rokudenashi performs the ending theme “Hoshi o Muguru” (Traversing the Stars).

What the series is about

The full title, The World’s Strongest Witch: I’m Starting My Free Life in a World Where Only I Can See the Online Strategy Guide, lays out the premise. When Lorna manifests a seemingly useless ability, she is branded an embarrassment to her family and kicked out of the house. With no money or food, she is about to hit rock bottom — until she works out how to use her supposedly worthless SSS-Rank skill, “Internet,” to gather valuable items and acquire rare equipment. Armed with that knowledge, she can do whatever she wants, if only she could figure out what “lmfao” means.

Source material

Mochimaru Sakaki began serializing the original story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in May 2022. Square Enix published the first print novel volume in December 2022, with illustrations by riritto. The sixth novel volume ships on October 7. Yen Press is releasing the light novels in English and will publish the third volume on November 10.

A manga adaptation by Tamaki Toga launched on Kodansha’s Getsu Maga Kichi / Comic Days website in May 2023, and Kodansha published the manga’s 14th compiled volume on October 8. Sakaki’s other novel series, The Strongest Swordsman Has Zero Equipment Slots and Final Boss Fake-out, are also available in English through Comikey and Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global.

Why it matters

With an October 7 premiere, this is one of the first new titles of the fall season, and its hook is self-aware in a way that has become common in the isekai-adjacent space: an overpowered protagonist whose “cheat” is understanding a system nobody else can see. The presence of a first-episode guest spot from a performer as established as Mizuki is also the kind of detail that tends to draw more viewers to an opener than a show’s marketing otherwise would.

The series is part of a crowded early-October launch window. For the season as a whole, see our ranking of the most anticipated Fall 2026 anime. Another light-novel adaptation opening the same week is Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden, which premieres October 6.
