Fairy Tail Re:Fantasia, Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail miniseries, will end in its next chapter. The announcement came in this year’s 43rd issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine, with the final chapter set for the 44th issue on September 30.
The miniseries launched in the magazine’s 35th issue on July 29, making for a short run of roughly two months on the pages of Weekly Shōnen Magazine.
A short return to a long-running world
The original Fairy Tail manga began in 2006 and ended in July 2017, following the mage guild of the same name and its members’ adventures. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the original series and a number of its spinoffs in English.
Re:Fantasia arrives nearly a decade after the original run ended, and the fact that it was planned as a miniseries from the start explains the compressed schedule. Rather than reopening the world indefinitely, it was structured to run for a defined stretch and then close.

The franchise has stayed active continuously since the original manga ended, with the sequel manga, its anime adaptation and game releases all running alongside one another. Re:Fantasia slots into that schedule as a shorter, self-contained addition rather than a replacement for any of them.
Why it matters
Fairy Tail’s readership is large and long-established, so an ending within a two-month window is easy to miss unless a reader is following the magazine issue by issue. Marking September 30 matters for anyone waiting to read the miniseries in one sitting rather than week to week.
It also clarifies the shape of Mashima’s current slate: the miniseries wraps up, while Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest continues as the main ongoing thread for the franchise in both manga and anime form.
The final chapter arrives in the same issue of Weekly Shōnen Magazine that carries the returning Go! Go! Loser Ranger!, which resumed this week after a hiatus for Negi Haruba’s health.
The ending lands during a busy month for manga conclusions. Norimitsu Kaihō and Kurageso’s Akarui Mirai ends in Manga Time Kirara Forward on October 23, while Saisou’s My Tiny Senpai will finish with its 14th volume next April.
