Saisou’s My Tiny Senpai will end with its 14th volume next April. The author confirmed the finale on Monday in a reply to a fan on social media, rather than through a formal press release from the publisher.
The series is known in Japan as Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Sempai no Hanashi, which is also rendered in English as Story of a Small Senior in My Company. J-Novel Club publishes the manga in English, and its official description sets the tone: an office romance built around a small, cheerful senior who loves to praise her junior, and two people who cannot quite work up the courage to say how they feel. Their manager, Akina, and their colleague Hayakawa are along for the ride as the self-appointed cheering section.
One volume left to go
Saisou launched the manga on Takeshobo’s Storia Dash web manga service in April 2020. Takeshobo shipped the 13th compiled volume on September 16, which means the announcement leaves exactly one collected book still to come before the story closes.
The timing lines up cleanly with the author’s wording. Because the manga will finish with volume 14, the ending is tied to the print release schedule rather than to a specific chapter number, and readers now have a rough window of about seven months to follow the final stretch.
From web manga to two adaptations
The series has already crossed over into both anime and live action, which is unusual for a web-published office comedy:
- Anime: premiered in July 2023, streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan, with an English dub also produced
- Live action: a television adaptation followed in January 2025
- English manga: published by J-Novel Club
- Original run: Storia Dash, April 2020 to the present
Getting a live-action series is a strong signal of a title’s domestic popularity, and the anime gave the manga a wider international readership through Crunchyroll. Neither adaptation needed a long runway of material to work with, which is part of why the manga’s relatively modest volume count has still produced three separate versions of the story.
Why it matters
Endings announced through a casual fan reply tend to arrive with less ceremony than a publisher’s formal notice, but the practical takeaway is the same: no open-ended continuation, no drifting monthly schedule. Readers following the official English volumes know roughly how much story remains, and the final Japanese volume gives the licensing side a clear target for the English edition to catch up to.
Office rom-coms depend on a slow burn between two characters, so a fixed endpoint matters more here than it would in a long-running adventure series. The whole premise is the wait itself, and the wait now has a published finish line.
The news lands in a busy stretch for manga endings and final arcs. Hiro Mashima’s Fairy Tail Re:Fantasia miniseries ends with its next chapter on September 30, while Yuhiro Tsujitsugu’s Snowball Earth has entered its own final arc after passing one million copies in circulation.
