Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent Anime Reveals Cast and April 2027 Premiere

The anime of Naruki’s Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun — localised as Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent — has its first cast and a premiere window. The series will debut in April 2027 on ABC TV and TV Asahi’s “Animazing!!!” programming block, its official site announced alongside a teaser promotional video. It will also stream on ABEMA, though no streaming date has been given.

The first cast

  • Hiroto Shimizu as Dan Ichikura, the mild-looking boy with a delinquent past
  • Suzuko Hara as Hiro Momose, the classmate who wants nothing to do with troublemakers
  • Yuma Tomochika as Ohana-chan

Staff and studio

Makoto Hoshino (DamePri Anime Caravan, Banished from the Hero’s Party, The Little Lies We All Tell) is directing at Studio Flad and Wao World. Megumi Shimizu (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, Banished from the Hero’s Party) writes the series scripts, and Ruriko Watanabe (DamePri Anime Caravan) designs the characters. The three worked together on Banished from the Hero’s Party, which is a useful shorthand for the register to expect: light, character-first storytelling rather than pure gag comedy.

What it’s about

Seven Seas Entertainment, which publishes the manga in English, describes the setup this way: Momose has always wanted a peaceful high school life and wants nothing to do with hoodlums or troublemakers. Then she meets Ichikura, an unassuming, black-haired boy in glasses — who, it turns out, was a notorious delinquent in junior high. He insists he has changed his ways, but he is still quick to throw a punch. Whether Momose can keep his past quiet is the hook.

The manga

Naruki launched the series in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Friend magazine in January 2021. Kodansha shipped the 11th compiled volume on May 13. Kodansha’s K MANGA service and Seven Seas Entertainment both release it in English, with K MANGA publishing digitally and simultaneously; Seven Seas released volume 7 on July 14.

The serialisation history behind the adaptation is a little unusual. Naruki’s manga ran in Bessatsu Friend from the February 2021 issue through the October 2021 issue, then returned to the magazine in the July 2022 issue after readers responded to it, and it has continued since. That stop-start run, followed by a steady serialisation and then an anime order, is a fairly typical path for a shōjo title that finds its audience after launch rather than out of the gate.

Why it matters

The “Animazing!!!” block gives the anime a mainstream broadcast home rather than a late-night slot, which fits a shōjo romcom built on a reformed-delinquent gag — the kind of show that benefits from a broad, after-school audience. April 2027 is already filling up with romance adaptations, so Glasses With a Chance of Delinquent will be competing for the same viewers as titles like Everyone’s Darling Has a Secret.

Streaming is the next thing to watch, since ABEMA is the only service confirmed so far. If you are tracking the season’s romantic comedies, our report on Hirayasumi’s January 2027 premiere covers another low-key slice-of-life adaptation worth following.
