Seven Seas Licenses Ushiyama-san, Mouse Royale, This World Is Worth Fighting For and More

Seven Seas Entertainment announced six new licenses on Wednesday, spread across five manga and one light novel series. Release dates run from June to August 2027, so none of these are landing soon.

The batch leans on the publisher’s usual strengths: comedy, romance, and a couple of survival stories with teeth. Here is what was announced.

The manga

Ushiyama-san is by Haruyoshi Aizawa and arrives in August 2027. The setting is a school full of humanoid creatures, where a tall, popular cowgirl named Ushiyama sits at the top of the social order. A small, shy batboy admires her from a distance, and the book follows whether he ever gets past that.

Mouse Royale comes from Junichiro Sasaki, also in August 2027. A class trip to a mysterious island turns into a battle royale for a group of rodents. They are told only five will be allowed to board the boat home and given 28 days to sort it out. The lead, Nishibe, is timid and indecisive, which is not an ideal profile for the situation.

The Duke is Obsessed with the Vicious Omega is a boys’ love title with a small team behind it. Hare Takizawa wrote the original story, Kiyo Yoshimi handles the manga, and Chiharu Nara did the character design. It is set for August 2027. The setup follows Julius, an omega noble with a sharp tongue and a bad reputation, who gradually remembers a past life as an ordinary accountant. He decides to help his brother-in-law, Duke Raphael, with his duties rather than play court politics, which goes about as expected.

This World is Worth Fighting For is by Hatsumi Kodama and lands in July 2027. It follows Ito Kiri, a 25-year-old three years into a job she hates, dealing with harassment at work and a bad relationship at home. She is running on energy drinks and a single thought about being useful to someone. A mysterious letter interrupts that routine and changes her direction.

Alice, All the Way to Outer Space is by Kiko Urino, also July 2027. Alice dreams of becoming the first Japanese female astronaut captain, but her grades are a problem. A lone genius named Inuboshi offers to help her get smarter if she studies with him, and the story turns on whether she can make the cut.

The novel

The one prose title is My House Cat Became the World’s Strongest?!, a light novel series written by Tamaki Yoshigae with illustrations by LINO. It is scheduled for June 2027, the earliest date in the batch. The premise follows a burned-out office worker whose cat, Tama, suddenly grows gigantic and drags him into dungeon clearing. Tama’s purring grants buffs, which turns the pair into unlikely livestream stars.

Why it matters

Seven Seas is a mid-size publisher that relies on licensed light novels, romance, and genre comedy, and this announcement fits that shape without straying from it. Two of the picks, Mouse Royale and This World is Worth Fighting For, sit close to the darker end of the catalog, while the cat novel and Alice, All the Way to Outer Space aim at lighter readers.

The gap between announcement and release is the thing worth noting. June and August 2027 are a long way off, so these are catalog-building moves rather than titles readers can order this year. Seven Seas has kept up a steady licensing pace this month, and this batch reads like part of that rhythm.
