Himouto! Umaru-chan is coming back. Sankaku Head announced in a livestream on the Niconico streaming service on Saturday, September 26, 2026, that a new series titled Umaru-chan 100 will launch on Shueisha’s Young Jump+ platform on October 1, 2026.
The announcement came straight from the creator rather than through a magazine teaser, which is increasingly how returning Shueisha properties get revealed. No chapter count, release schedule or English-language simulpub for Umaru-chan 100 has been confirmed at the time of writing, and it is not yet clear whether the “100” in the title refers to a chapter milestone, a volume count or something else. Shueisha has not detailed what the new series will cover.
What Himouto! Umaru-chan is
Himouto! Umaru-chan is a comedy manga written and illustrated by Sankakuhead. It began as two one-shot chapters published in Shueisha’s Miracle Jump in 2012 before being picked up as a full serialization in Weekly Young Jump, where it ran from March 2013 to November 2017 across 12 collected volumes.
The premise is built on a single joke that the series stretches surprisingly far. Umaru Doma is a high school girl who appears to have it all in public: perfect grades, good looks and visible talent. At home, sharing an apartment with her older brother Taihei, she collapses into a kid-sized layabout in a hamster hoodie who lives on junk food and video games. Her classmates and neighbours mostly never reconcile the two versions of her, and much of the comedy comes from watching that gap widen.

Why the Young Jump+ move matters
Placing Umaru-chan 100 on Young Jump+ rather than the print Weekly Young Jump is a meaningful choice. Shueisha’s digital platform carries no page or chapter-length constraints imposed by a weekly magazine’s page budget, and it lets a series publish at its own pace while still feeding the same reader base. For a comedy series built on short gag chapters, the format is a natural fit, and it also gives the publisher a low-risk way to test how much appetite still exists for the franchise.
That last point is the real story here. Himouto! Umaru-chan has now been away from active serialization for more than eight years, and revivals like this are usually judged on whether they can reach readers who never had a chance to follow the original run. A digital-first launch, free of a print commitment, keeps the cost of finding out low while putting the new chapters in front of the platform’s existing audience on day one.

For longtime fans, the practical takeaway is simple: a series that ended twice now has another chapter to its life, and it starts on October 1. For newcomers, the revival is a fresh entry point that does not require catching up on twelve volumes to understand, at least in theory, since gag comedy series like this tend to be approachable from any starting point.
