Yasuki Tanaka’s Ghost Fixers Manga Ends on October 16

Yasuki Tanaka’s Ghost Fixers is one chapter away from its ending. The 99th chapter, published on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform on Friday, confirmed that the series will close with the next installment.

There is a small wrinkle in the announcement. The final page of chapter 99 told readers the last chapter would arrive on October 9, but MANGA Plus lists the date as October 16. The later date is the one to trust, and it means the manga still has one more chapter to go rather than none.

A short run for a Shonen Jump+ series

Tanaka launched Ghost Fixers on Shonen Jump+ in March 2024. Shueisha has put out seven collected volumes so far, with the seventh shipping on March 4. Ending at chapter 100 gives the series a run of a little over two and a half years, which is short by the standards of the platform’s bigger hits.

MANGA Plus handles the English release, and its description lays out the premise: after a certain event, Mikurigaoka New Town turns into a magnet for supernatural phenomena known as GHOSTS. A middle schooler named Hifumi lives in the town, and one day he meets a girl who has just moved in. From there, his job is to help “correct” the supernatural.

Summer Time Rendering remains the bigger name

Ghost Fixers is not the series Tanaka is best known for. Summer Time Rendering, his earlier manga, ran on Shonen Jump+ from October 2017, and its 13th and final volume shipped in Japan in April 2021. It built a wide audience.

That series received a 2022 anime directed by Ayumu Watanabe, whose credits include Space Brothers and Children of the Sea. Disney+ streamed it worldwide and exclusively in Japan. A live-action project was announced in 2021 and has since taken shape as a film set to open in Japan in 2027. The manga also inspired a game that launched on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in January 2023.

The English release of Summer Time Rendering has its own history. Shueisha used the series to launch the MANGA Plus service with an English version in January 2019, and Udon Entertainment picked up the print license in 2021.

Why it matters

Ghost Fixers ending at around 100 chapters is not a shock for anyone following Shonen Jump+ originals, which often run for a few years and then close on their own terms. A hundred chapters is also a tidy number to stop on, and it lines up with how the platform tends to wrap a series once it has told the story it set out to tell. For readers following Ghost Fixers in English through MANGA Plus, the practical takeaway is simple: one chapter left, on October 16.

The more interesting question is what Tanaka writes next. Summer Time Rendering grew big enough to earn an anime, a live-action film and a game, so his name carries weight. Whatever he starts next on Shonen Jump+ will get attention from the start.
